FAQ

How did you get interested in photography?

How did I become interested is something that a lot of you are curious about….It all started at a wedding in 2007, I got bored and my sister let me take her Canon 20D + 17-85mm IS around and snap photos of random stuff. I looked straight up at these amazing trees and took a photo..After that click of the shutter, I got hooked. The colors and the composition, the colors and the details..Were amazing. I couldn't believe that I just captured that moment in time and created art. Immediately, I wanted a DSLR, and a couple months later at Christmas, I got a Canon Rebel XT and it was game over from there on. I took photos all the time and was constantly amazed. A couple months later I upgraded to a 30D and a 50mm f/1.8 II. I used that for a couple months and then upgraded to a 5D and 50mm f/1.8 II still. I felt like I needed a toy that could go to the extent that I wanted to go to. I have had many many photo shoots and many different experiences. There were more good than bad, and I'm proud of that. I have grown a lot in these past years. Since then.. I have expanded my gear like crazy and I am proud to say that I bought all of it myself.

What's your gear consist of?

It depends on the assignment, please view the GEAR section of this website for a comprehensive list of the photographic tools I use.

Are you really from Seattle?

Nope! I'm born and raised in Bellevue.. BUT, I do spend most of my time in Seattle. I love that city and love the landscape, it's perfect for photos :D

What do you want to do as a profession?

I want to be a professional photographer and get paid for what I love to do! I love portrait photography and I want to bring my crazy style into the commercial world. All of this would be in Japan, of course.

How do you come up with your ideas?

I sometimes get these random ideas that pop into my head and once I set them up to take them… New ideas randomly pop into my head and I have to do them. I love those moments. Besides those random brain blasts.. I write ideas down and try to execute them as I see them.

How many years have you been a photographer?

I have been shooting since late 2007 but…I believe that in the last year and a half, that's when I started to become very serious and take my photography in a new direction.

What type of photography is your favorite?

I love portraits, but as you may have witnessed, I have a different style than most people. I want to bring a lot of emotion into a photo and also bring my editing into the shot where it can be different from everyone else's work. I also really like landscape photography. I love being able to capture what God puts before me.

What do you want to do with your schooling?

I want to go to Japan for school and get my career started over there. I am applying to Temple University in Tokyo and I hope to get in, obviously. I want to get out of Seattle and explore some new scenery with a different culture. I think it will make my brain explode with crazy ideas and it'll be a really positive experience. I hope to be a professional photographer.. In Japan.
